I don’t regret not going to university at all. Initially I was a bit sceptical, now however I feel in a very good position as I'll have already completed three years of training via the AAT and ACA when all my friends are just leaving university.

About the AAT-ACA Fast Track

Otherwise known as an accountancy apprenticeship, the AAT-ACA Fast Track is the perfect non-graduate path into chartered accountancy. We have worked with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) to develop this progression route to the ACA which enables you to qualify as an Accounting Technician and a chartered accountant in as little as four years!

I chose to study ACA because I believe it is a prestigious qualification to hold. I decided to study accountancy straight from school so began with my AAT. Once this was complete continuing with the ACA seemed like a really good option.

About the AAT

The AAT is a leading qualification for accounting technicians from the Association of Accounting Technicians. It will give you an excellent understanding of the principles that underpin the accountancy profession resulting in you obtaining a recognised qualification.

You can work at the same time as studying for the AAT so it’s a great opportunity for you to start your accountancy career without going to university.

About fast track

We recognise that people who have completed the AAT Level 4 Diploma in Accounting will have an excellent understanding of the principles of accountancy. Therefore the AAT-ACA Fast Track recognises the technical understanding you have whilst allowing you to count any work experience you have towards the ACA.

During the first stages of the AAT you will develop your understanding of accountancy. Once completed, you will have already covered some of the same areas as the first stages of the ACA.

Once you start the ACA you will be able to apply for credit for prior learning (exemptions), meaning you won’t have to sit up to five of the ACA exams. How many credits you do get will depend on the modules you have chosen in the AAT’s Level 3 and 4 Diploma in Accounting.

If you are working at an ICAEW Authorised Training Employer while you study for the AAT, you will also be able to count the work experience you get when you are doing the Level 4 Diploma in Accounting towards the first year of your ACA Training Agreement.

So, with less exams and your previous work experience counting towards the ACA, you could complete both qualifications in as little as four years.
