You can register as a student with ICAEW as part of a training agreement or as an independent student. Once you have done this you can start studying and you’ll have access to the range of resources which will support you throughout your studies.
If you’re registering as an independent student you can register at any time, however, you must also secure a training agreement to complete the ACA. If you’ve secured your training agreement before starting your ACA studies you will normally register with ICAEW during your induction week at your employer.
If you are registering as part of a training agreement you will need to include your employer’s training office number, which your Qualified Person Responsible for Training will give you. If you are registering as an independent student you’ll put “NA” in this section.
The registration form requires you to detail your academic qualifications as well as the grades you achieved. You must always provide information on where you studied and when you completed your qualifications.

If you are unable to register online or your authorised training employer (ATE) requires a hard-copy of your application, your ATE will provide you with the required paperwork.
Once you have submitted your registration you will receive a welcome email that includes your student number. Please keep this email safe as you will need your student number throughout your training.
