My ACA experience: Jennifer

Jennifer studied Law at university, but decided that she didn't want a job that would tie her to a desk. Inspired by her father's travels during his career as an accountant, she opted to study the ACA. She now works for a mid-tier audit firm specialising in owner-managed businesses and enjoys working with senior management teams from a variety of industries.

Jennifer's story...

During my degree in Law with French Law and Language, I realised that I couldn’t imagine myself sat in the same office all day, doing the same tasks day in and day out. It was at this point I decided to look into alternative career paths.

Audit and accountancy seemed like a great option, and having seen my father travel the world as an auditor, I knew it would hold many opportunities!

It also had the additional bonus of allowing you to study for a professional qualification while gaining lots of practical skills by actually doing the job.

The ACA qualification was an obvious choice for me, as it is globally recognised and widely regarded as the most prestigious qualification in accountancy which means it could take me anywhere.

The course content has been really interesting and comprehensive, supporting my day-to-day experiences at work.

So far I have passed all the exams first time, and I am hoping to continue the trend!

I am studying the remaining ACA modules, while working on the graduate training programme for MacIntyre Hudson, a firm which has a vast range of clients.

Working for MacIntyre Hudson has given me the chance to experience working with many different industries and a variety of clients.

As a leading mid-tier accountancy and audit firm specialising in owner-managed businesses, I have had the opportunity to meet senior management personnel.

I really enjoy the role, and it has been exciting to see how different companies work, while meeting many new people.
