Bryan's story

I started the CFAB program at the age of 18 years old after high school and I had the opportunity to go to an accounting firm for a three-month internship. I gained real, practical experience – which gave me a glimpse of corporate life.

I believe that one of the more important skills when you are working is the ability to adapt to change. "Especially in audit, many of the clients I work with are moving towards digitalisation and hence, as auditors, we need to adapt to changes quickly”.

The biggest advantage in starting the ICAEW qualification early is the ability for me to hit the job market early, ahead of many of my peers. Even though I am younger than many of my peers, I am confident that the ICAEW curriculum adequately prepared me for work. I'm especially impressed that the ICAEW emphasised on the development skills during my Training Agreement, which gave me the edge in progressing quickly through my professional career.

I have just completed my final module – the Case Study – last December 2020 – and I am looking forward to accumulating more experience and looking to go beyond the professional firms in the future – probably into the insurance sector, where I have a keen interest in.
