Jessica's story...

My journey began way back in 2012 during my last year at university when I was studying for a degree in insurance and finance. I had no intention of doing a qualification in accountancy until I attended a presentation by EY on the ACA and its benefits. I was intrigued. I wanted to stand out and found that the ACA would set me apart from other accountants.

For me, one of the benefits of doing the ACA in Malta was the lower living and travel costs in comparison to the UK. Moreover, the possibility of working at the same time as studying meant that I was able to apply what I was learning to the work I was doing on behalf of my clients - which I found extremely beneficial.

I had the opportunity to be seconded to London for five weeks which was a great experience. Something that I still remember was when I told my colleagues in the UK that I was doing the ACA in Malta - they were impressed and happy for me. They considered it a very prestigious qualification.

My top tip to other students would be to always be determined to reach your goal.

I want to be recognised as a person who holds a unique qualification and would like to be rewarded in the future for the knowledge, skills and experience I have gained from my ACA training.
