BASE provides ICAEW members and ACA students with an opportunity to help find the next generation of chartered accountants. By volunteering as a mentor you will have the ability to engage with students, pass on your knowledge and skills, and support them throughout the competition.

Regional training days will be held in December to ensure all mentors are prepared to run their sessions. Please register your interest by 29 November 2019 to make sure you’re booked to attend a training day.
Your role as a mentor would be to advise teams during the online round of the competition, which takes place from 13 January – 31 March 2020. We will match you to a local school, if possible, and put you in contact with the teacher responsible for running BASE. You will need to arrange a mutually suitable time to visit.
You will be asked to give up half a day of your time to support the students. The aim of your session is for you to provide expert advice and guidance to the students taking part. The exact format of your session may vary depending on which school you’re mentoring and what they require, more guidance will be provided during the training days. Time dependent, you could also deliver an additional session to the wider school and/or presentation about your career or what being a chartered accountant means to you.
